I realize this is a bit serious for afl, but lately I haven’t been able to stop thinking about this series by Sunny Miller. He takes portraits of Philadelphia’s homeless, and humanizes them in a way that we often forget to. It’s remarkable that he’s able to capture such intimate portraits of the folks I suspect would be most weary of his lens. Study them closely. It’s hard to ignore them once you’ve looked into their eyes. If you’re interested in helping, please e-mail me, or leave a comment below. You can also visit Sunny’s instagram to learn more about the people pictured, as well as their specific needs. Many thanks to Sunny, for letting me share these powerful images with you.

Is homelessness a big problem in Philadelphia? Has Eva ever asked you about a homeless person?

Katherine, It's a pretty serious problem, but not in comparison to a lot of other major cities. There aren't very many homeless people in the part of town where we live, I think they still a little closer to center city (where the subway system and lots of people are). If eva has ever seen a homeless person, I doubt she would be aware of the fact that they didn't have a house, she's never asked me about it.
