After my very special visit to the Philadelphia Museum of Art last week, I was reminded that it’s been quite a while since I posted any fine art on the blog. I’m hoping you’ll take a few moments from your hectic holiday preparations to admire and absorb the work of Teil Duncan. You’ll find several more images, and info on the artist after the jump….
Teil is a southern gal originally from Columbus, GA. She now lives and works in Charleston, SC. In her words…”My paintings consist of mostly figurative and non-objective work. I am forever learning and trying new techniques, mediums and subjects. Inspired by light, movement, surprising color combinations, social interaction, and patterns, I try to collaborate these elements and form abstracted, pixilated compositions.”
I REALLY wish I could see the world through Teil’s eyes for just a moment. I took a figure drawing class in college and found it to be both rewarding and difficult. I love the artist’s modern and colorful take on gesture drawing. Her style really breathes new life into a practice that artists have been exercising for centuries. Teil sells both original work and prints on her site. Be sure to check her out, and have a beautiful weekend!
